History

  1962
Hugo Knoepfel (then a 23-year-old engine fitter) establishes Knoepfel AG in Walzenhausen. The company starts as a single proprietorship in his grandfather’s former mechanic workshop.

1969
Urs Knoepfel, the founder’s brother, joins the company. The two brothers now run the firm jointly.

1972
The company moves from the workshop, which has grown too small, into an existing factory real estate in the village of Walzenhausen. The new halls are better suited to the requirements.

1975
The single proprietorship is turned into a corporation.

1980
The factory is extended.

1991
The company moves to a new building in another part of the village (Gaismoos). A works building thought out down to the last detail, unique in its concept, and representative of the forward-looking company.

2002

2005

2006
